Wassa Percussion was formed in the vibrant artistic community of Matam, Conakry. The late master musician Morcire Camara raised the group from it’s early days. Musical director, Ibrahimasory ‘Soriba’ Fofana, and director of dance, Abraham ‘Italo’ Sylla of Les Ballets Africains, lead the group with it’s intricate choreography of percussion and dance. The ensemble is constantly evolving and introducing new instrumentation whilst holding onto their traditional roots.
